KARLBY worktop is made of particleboard
with a 3.5 mm layer of solid wood. Do not
open the package until you’re ready to
install the worktop. Before installation, store
the worktop indoors in room temperature
and normal humidity. Do not place the
worktop against a warm radiator or put it on
a cold oor.
The worktop is pre-treated at the factory
with hard wax oil and no other treatment
is necessary until the surface starts to
wear. When the surface has starts to wear
or becomes dry, it’s time to treat it with
BEHANDLA wood treatment oil. Start by
cleaning the surface and preparing it by
sanding it lightly in the direction of the grain
using ne sandpaper or Scotch-Brite™. Wipe
away any sanding dust with a dry cloth. Use
a cloth or brush to apply BEHANDLA wood
treatment oil in a thin, even coat. Leave to
penetrate the surface for approximately 15
minutes. Wipe off any unabsorbed oil with a
dry soft cloth. After the rst treatment, sand
the surface lightly with ne sandpaper. Let
the surface dry and repeat the treat¬ment
after a few days. When the surface has
dried after the second treatment, sand the
worktop with coarser sandpvaper to get a
smooth surface. To ensure that the worktop
will retain its durable surface for many years
to come, treat it with BEHANDLA wood
treatment oil once a year. Treat sensitive
areas, such as around the sink and hob,
more frequently.
