HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
General procedures:
– Lower implements attached to lift arms to relieve
hydraulic pressure from system before servicing.
– When servicing hydraulic pipe fittings, do not use
teflon tape. Use a liquid sealant that will dissolve
into system.
– Make sure all hydraulic connections are tight
before applying pressure to system.
Routine service:
Check hydraulic fluid level in reservoir sight glass G.
Normal level is approximately in the center.
Replace fluid and filter at intervals shown in the service
chart. The hydraulic filter, a spin-on cannister type, is
located at H below the seat plate.
Draining procedure:
The fluid is drained through a brass fitting at the
bottom of the reservoir.
1. Place a 9/16" wrench on the flats of the drain
fitting.
2. While holding the wrench to prevent the fitting from
turning, remove the drain plug.
3. After draining, hold the wrench on the fitting flats
again while tightening the drain plug.
Leaks:
Fluid in the hydraulic system is under high pressure.
Escaping hydraulic fluid can penetrate skin and cause
serious injury. If injured by escaping hydraulic fluid,
see a doctor at once. Serious infection or reaction
can develop if proper medical treatment is not
administered immediately.
Locating leaks: Do not use your hands to attempt to
feel a spray. Instead, pass an object like cardboard
over hydraulic system components to visualize a
spray.
– Leaks can penetrate
skin.
– Seek immediate
medical attention for oil
penetration injury.
