2 Preparing and using your IMPRESSA for the first time
After the first time that a coffee speciality has been pre-
pared, it may happen that
FILL BEANS
appears on the
display if the grinder has not yet been completely filled with
coffee beans. In that case, prepare a different coffee speci-
ality.
Your IMPRESSA no longer has to be de-scaled if you use the
CLARIS plus filter cartridge.
Perform the “Insert filter” operation without interruptions.
This will ensure that your IMPRESSA always produces its
best.

Further information on CLARIS can be found in Chapter 9,
“CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Water for perfect coffee”.
After two months, the filter will cease to work. Monitor the
elapsed time as shown on the date plate on the cartridge
holder.
Precondition:

m l Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item.

appears on the display.
ä l Turn the Rotary Switch until

appears.
m l Press the Rotary Switch to confirm this setting.
OK
appears briefly on the display to confirm the setting.
INSERT
, the maintenance button h lights up.
Remove the CLARIS plus filter cartridge and the filter
cartridge extension from the Welcome Pack.
Stick the extension on top of the filter cartridge.
Remove the water tank and empty it.
