USING THIS GUIDE
SYMBOLS USED IN THIS GUIDE:
ZsVW ‘Up and down arrows indicate you should
press the Menu Up or Menu Down
button. This function allows you to:
* Move vertically in the main menu
* Move through a submenu, or
¢ Move to the next letter, number, or other
choice in a submenu
¢ Back up to correct an error
<{{> Left and right arrows indicate you should
press the Menu Left or Menu Right button to:
« Select the highlighted item, or
¢ Select the options in a submenu
The “Press Button” means you need to
press that button on the remote control
The helping hand points to the active, or
highlighted item
Button names are always WRITTEN In SMALL
Capital Letters in order to avoid confusion with
menu functions of the same name.
WORKING THE MENUS
To use the Menu, press any of the remote’s
4-way cursor control buttons and the JVC
scrolling menu will appear on the screen. The
item that appears yellow is the selected item.
Factory settings begin with the Picture Settings
menu. However, since Initial Setup is so impor-
tant, this guide begins here.

AUTO TUNER SETUP
During Auto Tuner Setup, the TV will
automatically scan through all available
channels and memorize the active ones.

** AUTO (STD, HRC, IRC) will access all
over-the-air broadcast channels and
more than 99% of cable systems. If the
channels on your cable system are not
selected after this procedure, use AUTO
(OTHERS).
O Noise Mute will not work while Auto
Tuner Setup is working.
© During Auto Tuner Setup the TV will
be programmed to receive only active
channels. Once the channels are acti-
vated here, they are automatically
included in scan.
© Some weak or distant channels may
be included in scan. You can delete
them from scanning by removing the
“\" mark in the SCAN column in the
Channel Summary menu.
CHANNEL SUMMARY
You can add or delete channels from
channel scanning, and lock out any “unautho-
rized’ viewers from up to all 181 channels.

SCAN
You can manually set channels to scan
that were too weak to be picked up by
Auto Tuner Setup. Or, if a channel was too
weak for a good picture but was picked up
anyway, delete it by removing the v.

Exit when finished
© Some cable systems experience interfer-
ence from radio frequencies on Cable
Channel 95. You can delete this channel
from scanning by removing the V.
STATION ID
You can label up to 25 channels with a sta-
tion ID of up to four letters, using numbers,
letters, or common keyboard characters.
AV To ID column and <j [> to operate
AW To choose each letter and <{ [> to
accept and move to the next letter
AV To FINISH and <j > to save
