Checking
the
System
With
gas
line
installed
run
initial
system
checkout
before
closing
up
the
front
of
the
unit.
Follow
the
pilot
lighting
instructions
on
page
20
for
millivolt
appliances.
Refer
to
page
22
for
electronic
appliance
lighting
instructions.

Instructions
are
also
found
on
the
pull
out
panel
located
on
the
bottom
surface
of
the
appliance.
Note:
The
safety
switch
must
be
held
closed
for
burner
operation
when
testing.
When
first
lighting
the
appliance,
it
will
take
a
few
minutes
for the
ine
to
purge
itself
of
air.
Once
purging
is
complete,
the
pilot
and
burner
willlightand
operate
as
indicated
inthe
instruc-
tion
manual.
Subsequent
lightings
of
the
appli-
ance
will
not
require
such
purging.
Inspect
the
pilot
flame
(remove
logs,
if
necessary,
handling
carefully)
Millivolt
Appliance
Checkout
The
pilot
flame
should
be
steady,
not
lifting
or
floating.
Flame
should
be
blue
in
color
with
traces
of
orange
at
the
outer
edge.
The
top
9"
(10
mm)
at
the
pilot
generator
(thermopile)
and
the
top
%"
min
(tip}
of
the
quick
drop
out
thermocouple
should
be
en-
guifed
in
the
pilot
flame.
The
flame
should
project
(25
mm)
beyond
the
hood
at
all
three
ports
(Figure
23).

Replace
logs
if
removed
for
pilot
inspection.
To
light
the
burner;
turn
“ON”
the
remote
wall
switch,
manually
depress
and
hold
the
door
switch
(Figure
24
)
and
rotate
the
gas
valve
control
knob
counterclockwise
to
the
“ON”
position
(“ON”
will
be
at
the
bottom
side
of
the
valve).

Checkout
To
light
the
burner,
turn
‘ON’
the
optional
remoie
wall
switch,
manuaily
depress
and
hoid
the
door
switch
(Figure
24)
and
turn
the
gas
control
switch
to
the
“ON”
position.
Ensure
the
ignitor
lights
the
pilot.
The
pitot
flame
should
engulf
the
flame
rod
as
shown
in
Figure
25.

installing
the
Glass
Deoi
Frame
Retrieve
the
glass
door
frame.
Visually
inspect
the
gasket
on
the
backside
of
the
panel.
Gasket
surface
must
be
clean,
free
of
irregularities
and
seated
firmly.
Position
the
door
frame
in
front
of
the
firebox
opening,
with
the
joint
in
the
gasket
down
(Figure
26
y.
Locate
the
three
(3)
tabs
at
the
bottom
edge
of
the
door
frame
into
thethree
(3)
brackets
at
the
base
of
the
fireplace
front
open-
ing.
Lean
the
door
frame
back
towards
the
fireplace
ensuring
that
the
gasket
seats
evenly
as
the
door
frame
draws
shut.
Install
the
three
(3)
%4"-20
x
Phillips
pan
head
screws
re-
moved
previously
and
tighten
to
secure.
En-
sure
that
the tab
on
the
bottom
of
the
door.
frame
engages
the
door
switch.
Make
sure
the
screws
are
tightened
equaily.to
avoid
torquing
the
door.
