Appendix F: Using Boom As Part Of A Whole-
Home System
Squeezebox Boom is just one member of a growing family of Squeezebox
network music players and network music systems. Our products can be
divided into three categories:
All-in-one players feature built-in amplifi ers and speakers, so you can place
them anywhere within range of your network without having to worry about
connecting them to an audio system. Squeezebox Boom is our fi rst all-in-one
network music player.
Players, like the Squeezebox Receiver, Squeezebox Classic, and Squeezebox
Transporter, require an audio system or powered speakers. They’re good
choices for adding network music to a home stereo system.
Controllers operate any player on your network. Our fi rst model,
Squeezebox Controller, features a color screen that’s great for displaying
album art. Squeezebox Controller connects wirelessly to your network,
rather than using infrared, so you can control your Squeezebox Boom from
anywhere in your house.
Squeezebox Controller: The Heart of Your Whole-
Home Network Music System
The Squeezebox Controller lets you take command of your network music.
You can choose any Squeezebox player in your house with just a few clicks;
the color screen will show you which player you’re controlling and you can
even set up your Controller to display a custom color theme for each player.
You can create a different mood in each room by controlling each player
independently; or, if you’d like your music to follow you around the house,
you can synchronize multiple players.
There are no restrictions on the combination of Squeezebox players you
can add to your whole-home system. You can have two or more players
of the same model (for example, a Squezebox Boom in each of your
