The Basics of Shooting and Playback
1 Press the shutter-release button halfway.
When the subject is in focus, the focus area glows green
(multiple focus areas can glow green).
When you are using digital zoom, the camera focuses
on the subject in the center of the frame and the focus
area is not displayed. When the camera has focused, the
focus indicator (A7) glows green.
If the focus area or focus indicator flashes red, the
camera is unable to focus. Modify the composition and
try pressing the shutter-release button halfway again.
2 Without lifting your finger, press the shutter-
release button the rest of the way down.
3 To apply an effect to the captured image,
press the k button.
The screen for selecting an effect is displayed.
See “Using Quick Effects” (A45) for more information.
When you press the d button or when no operations
are performed for about five seconds, the monitor display
returns to the shooting screen.
To not display the screen shown on the right, set Quick
effects to Off in the shooting menu (A57).
