MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Gearcases
Rear Gearcase
Always check and change the rear gearcase oil at the intervals outlined
in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 53. Maintain the
oil l evel even with the bottom thread of the fill plug hole. We
recommend the use of Polaris ATV Angle Drive Fluid. S ee page 101
for the part numbers of Polaris products.
The rear gearcase fill plug (1) is on the driver’s side of the rear
gearcase.
Oil Check
1. Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Remove the fill plug and
check the oil level.
3. Add t he recommended
fluid as needed.
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque
to specification. See page 68.
Oil Change
1. Remove the fill plug.
2. Remove the drain plug (2)
from the bottom of the
gearcase and drain the oil
into a drain pan. Discard
used oil properly.
3. Clean and reinstall the drain
plug. Torque to specification.

4. Add the recommended fluid.

68.
5. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque
to specification. See page 68.
6. Check for leaks.
