System restore
Requirement
The device must have the factory settings before a Restore package is installed. This means:
All network cables have been pulled from the device.
The only expansion cards inserted are those with which the device was delivered and the expansion cards are in the same
slots as in the delivery condition.
The partitioning of the available drives in the device must mirror the factory state.
The logical names of the system partitions must be "Boot", "System", "WinRE" and "Data...", as in the delivery condition.
NOTICE
Risk of data loss
Depending on the selected restore mode, the C: system partition or the existing drive is deleted. When deleting the
entire drive, all data, user settings and existing authorizations are lost!
Make a regular backup of the contents of the C: system partition or the drives regularly and especially before the
system recovery.
Do not change the size of the system partition. The size of the system partition must be the same as in the factory
settings, i.e. 128 GB.
Procedure
1. Insert the Restore USB stick into a free USB port of your IPC. Start the device.
You can find information on the Restore USB flash drive in the section "Scope of delivery of the software (Page 17)".
2. When the BIOS message to select the boot options appears, press the <F7> key.
After initialization has completed, a "Boot menu" is displayed.
3. In the Boot menu, use the cursor keys to select the (UEFI) restore USB stick.
4. After the info box has been confirmed, select your preferred language ("English" or "German") in the "Restore" menu.
5. Select one of the following options in the next menu:
"Restore factory settings"
Existing drives are deleted. The factory settings are restored. All data, user settings and authorizations are lost in the
process.
"Restore partition layout"
Only the partition layout is restored; no image is restored. All data, user settings and authorizations are lost in the
process.
If your system has multiple logical drive volumes, for example an NVMe SSD and an SATA SSD RAID volume, the following
function is also available:
"Reorganize partition layout"
The use of the volume as system or data drive is swapped. No image is restored. All data, user settings and
authorizations are lost in the process.
If the drives are partitioned in the factory state of the computer, the following additional functions are available:
"Restore system partition (Windows only) "
Only the system partition C: is deleted and restored with the "A1 image". All user settings and authorizations are lost in
the process.
"Restore system partition (with PCS 7 installation)"
