FLYING WITH THE CROSS OVER CULT XC
Pre-flight check
To guarantee maximal safety, it is important to carry out the same pre-flight check be-
fore each flight!
Check that:
There are no signs of visible damage to the Harness or carabiners which could influ- >
ence air-worthiness.
The Rescue Container is correctly closed and there are no existing obstructions. >
Rescue deployment Handle is completely inserted into the elastic tab and secured. >
The function of the Separation System is guaranteed for the Stirrups. >
All clips, belts and zippers are completely closed. Clips should lightly click when clo- >
sing. With a light pull on the belt, you can determine if they are completely closed.
Pay particular care when snow or sand come into play.
The glider must be connected correctly with the Harness, both carabiners correctly >
closed and secured.
The Speed System is correctly connected with the Riser system. >
All pockets are closed and no loose parts hang from the Harness. >
Procedure during Rescue deployment
It is very important to occasionally grip the Rescue Handle when flying, in order to be
able to instinctively find the Handle in an emergency situation. In an emergency, you
must have a sense of the altitude still available to you and how serious the situation re-
ally is. To pull the Rescue, without it being absolutely necessary, can raise the risk of in-
jury when landing. When the glider is in a rotation, it is better to first try and stop the
rotation (for ex. with a full stall), in order to lessen the risk of the Rescue becoming
tangled. On the other hand, when there is not enough altitude, every second may deci-
de between life and death.
