14 TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Probable cause Solution
1. Starter motor does not run. Insuciently charged battery. Charge the battery.
Badly connected battery. Check connections
20A fuse blown Replace the fuse
2. The starter motor runs but
the engine does not start
With the ignition key in the
start position, starter motor
runs but the engine does not
start.
Fuel stopcock closed. Open the fuel stopcock.
Faulty fuel supply. - Check the level in the tank.
- Check the fuel lter.
Faulty ignition. - Check that spark plug cap is
securely tted.
- Check that the electrodes are
clean and have the correct gap.
3. Starting is dicult or the
engine runs erratically.
Carburetion problems. Clean or replace the air lter.
4. Weak engine performance
during cutting.
Forward speed too high in rela-
tion to cutting height.
Reduce the forward speed and/
or raise the cutting height.
5. The engine stops, without
any warning sound.
- No fuel.
- Try to restart the engine.
Fill up with fuel (if the problem
persists, contact an authorised
service centre).
