11.2 Cleaning the machine
Maintenance interval:
After each use
Place the machine on horizontal and
level ground.
Detach the grass catcher box. (Ö 7.1)
To clean the underside of the machine,
tilt the lawn mower (1) onto its side.
Only clean the machine using water,
with a brush or with a cloth. Remove
accumulated clipping deposits using a
stick. If necessary, use a special
cleaner (e.g. STIHL special cleaner).
Never spray water or high pressure
cleaners onto switches, motor
components, seals or bearing points.
11.3 Electric motor and wheels
The electric motor is maintenance-free.
The wheel bearings are maintenance-free.
11.4 Upper handlebar
Maintenance interval:
Before each use
Check the upper handlebar for damage –
it is coated with an insulating layer. Should
this layer become damaged, do not
operate the lawn mower and replace the
upper handlebar.
11.5 Mowing blade maintenance
Maintenance interval:
Before each use
Tilt the lawn mower onto its side.
(Ö 11.2)
Clean mowing blade (1) and check it for
damage (notches or cracks) and wear;
replace if necessary.
Check the blade thickness A at
several points using a slide calliper. In
particular, measure in the area of the
blade wings.
A > 1,6 mm
Place a ruler (2) against the front blade
edge and measure permissible
grinding B.
B < 5 mm
11.6 Removing and installing the
mowing blade
Tilt the lawn mower onto its side to work
on the mowing blade. (Ö 11.2)
1 Removing:
Hold mowing blade (1) with one hand.
Unscrew blade fastening screw (2) and
remove together with coupler (3) and
mowing blade (1).
2 Installing:
Clean the blade contact surface,
coupler and blade bushing.
Install mowing blade (1) on the blade
bushing with the curved wings pointing
upwards. Position guide pins (4) of the
blade bushing in the recesses in the
mowing blade.
Hold mowing blade (1) with one hand
and fit coupler (3).
Screw in blade fastening screw (2) and
tighten.
Tightening torque for blade fastening
screw:
15 - 20 Nm
11.7 Sharpening the mowing blade
STIHL recommends having the mowing
blade sharpened by a technician.
Operation of the machine is impaired in the

Check the blade for damage before
each use. The blade must be
replaced if notches or cracks are
detected or if the wear limits are
reached or exceeded.

Always wear suitable gloves when
working on the mowing blade.

Risk of injury!
Before installing, check the
condition of the mowing blade
(damage, wear) and replace if
necessary. (Ö 11.5)
The mowing blade must only be
installed as illustrated with the
curved wings pointing upwards
(towards the machine). Observe
the specified torque when
tightening the blade fastening
screw, as the secure attachment of
the cutting tool depends upon it.
Additionally secure the blade
fastening screw with Loctite 243.
Replace the blade fastening screw
and coupler each time the blade is
replaced.
