1. Make sure that the motor is stopped.
2. Cover the STBD/PORT auxiliary water
intake holes 1 with a piece of duct tape.
3. Install the flushing attachment 2 so that the
water intake holes are covered by the rubber
cups on the attachment.
4. Connect a garden hose to the flushing
attachment and turn on the water to obtain
enough flow so that plenty of excess water is
flowing out from around the rubber cups on
the attachment.
NOTICE
Severe engine damage can occur in as little as
15 seconds if the engine is started without
supplying water to the cooling system.
Never start the motor without supplying water
to the cooling system.
5. Place the remote control lever in the “NEU-
TRALposition with the propeller removed,
start the motor and allow it to run at idle.
6. Readjust the water flow, if necessary, so
that there is still plenty of excess water flow-
ing out from around the rubber cups.
7. Allow the water to continue circulating for a
few minutes.
8. Stop the motor, then turn off the water.
9. Remove the flushing attachment and
remove the duct tape from the water intake
holes.
10. Clean the motor surface and apply a coat of
automotive wax on the external finish of the
motor.
ENGINE NOT RUNNING
– Vertical position –
1. Make sure that the motor is stopped.
2. Remove one of the plug A or C from the
two flushing ports.
