Compensating the Probe
MSO/DPO5000. P erform the following steps to compensate the probe:
1. Connect the probe to an oscilloscope channel.
2. Connect the probe to the probe compensation output terminals on the oscilloscope front panel.
3. Select Vertical > Probe Cal.
4. Select the channel tab that the p robe is attached to.
5. In the Calibration section of the menu, click the Calibrate Probe button.

Perform the following steps to compensate the probe:
1. Connect th

WARNING. To avoid electric shock, only connect to the Probe Comp signal on the oscilloscope when making this adjustment.
3. Press the Channe
l Menu front panel button for the channel the probe is attached to.
4. Push the More bot
tom bezel button until Probe Setup is selected.
5. Push the Compens
ate Probe for Channel side bezel button and follow the on-screen instructions.
If the probe com
pensation fails, verify that the signal and ground connections are secure at the Probe Comp connections on
the oscilloscope. Also check that the ground connection is secure at the probe head, the rigid or pogo tip is secured tightly in
the probe head, and the hook tip is securely connected to the tip.

WARNING. To avoid electric shock when using the probe or accessories, keep fingers behind the finger guard of probe
body and accessories.
To reduce risk of shock, when using the probe on floating measurements, ensure the reference lead accessories are fully
mated before connecting the probe to the circuit under test.
