InstallingtheBlade
1.Installasharp,balancedToroblade,theaccelerator,and
thebladenuts.Thesailoftheblademustpointtoward
thetopofthemowerhousingforproperinstallation.
Note:Torquethebladenutsto20to37N-m(15to
27ft-lb).
WARNING
Operatingthemachinewithouttheaccelerator
inplacecancausethebladetoex,bend,or
break,resultinginseriousinjuryordeathto
youortobystanders.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutthe
acceleratorinplace.
2.Returnthemachinetotheoperatingposition.
AdjustingtheBlade-Brake
Cable
Theblade-brakecableisadjustedatthefactory;youdonot
needtoadjustitunlessyouarereplacingthecableorthe
blade-brakebelt.Ifyouneedtoreplacethecable,replace
boththecableandthebeltatthesametime.
1.Installanewblade-brakebeltandassemblethe
machineexceptforthe2beltcoversonthetopofthe
mowerhousing.
2.Installthenewblade-brakecable,butdonottighten
thecableclamponthetopofthemowerhousing
(Figure32).

Important:Replacingthecablewithout
replacingthebeltmaycausethegapbetweenthe
blade-brake-controlleverandthecontrolbracket
tobeincorrect.Ifthegapislessthan8mm(5/16
inch),thebladebrakewillnotfunctionproperly
andthebladewillnotstopwithin3seconds.Ifthe
gapisgreaterthan8mm(5/16inch),thebeltwill
notproperlydrivetheblade.
4.Pullthecabletighttoremovetheslack(butdonot
stretchthecablespring)andtightenthecableclamp
screwtolocktheadjustmentinplace.
5.Removethespacer.
