StorageSafety
Shutoffthemachine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operator’sposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
StoringtheMachine
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Engagetheparkingbrake.
3.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
4.Cleanthedirtandgrimefromtheentiremachine,
includingtheoutsideofthecylinder-headnsof
theengineandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachine
withmilddetergentandwater.Donotuse
power-washingequipmenttowashthe
machine.Pressurewashingthemachine
maydamagetheelectricalsystemorwash
awaynecessarygreaseatfrictionpoints.
Avoidexcessiveuseofwaternearthecontrol
panel,lights,engine,andthebattery.
5.Inspectthebrakes;refertoInspectingthe
Brakes(page55).
6.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page38).
7.Changetheengineoil;refertoServicingthe
EngineOil(page40).
8.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page17).
9.Forstorageover30days,preparethefuel
systemasfollows:
A.Addafuelstabilizer/conditionertofreshfuel
inthetank.Donotuseanalcohol-based
fuelstabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Important:Donotstorefuelcontaining
stabilizer/conditionerlongerthan
thedurationrecommendedbythe
fuel-stabilizermanufacturer.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystemfor5minutes.
C.Shutofftheengine,allowtheengineto
cool,anddrainthefueltank.
Note:Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleas
accordingtolocalcodes.
D.Starttheengineagainandrunituntilit
stops.
E.Choketheengine.
F.Startandruntheengineuntilitdoesnot
startagain.
10.Removethesparkplugandchecktheir
condition;refertoServicingtheSparkPlug
(page41).
11.Withthesparkplugsremovedfromtheengine,
pour15ml(2tablespoons)ofengineoilintothe
spark-plughole.
12.Usetheelectricstartertocranktheengineand
distributetheoilinsidethecylinder.
13.Installthesparkplug(s)andtightenitto
recommendedtorque;refertoServicingthe
SparkPlug(page41).
Note:Donotinstallthewireonthespark
plug(s).
14.Removethebatteryfromthechassis,and
chargeitfully;refertoRemovingtheBattery
(page45).
Note:Donotconnectthebatterycablestothe
batterypostsduringstorage.
Important:Thebatterymustbefully
chargedtopreventitfromfreezingandbeing
damagedattemperaturesbelow0°C(32°F).
Afullychargedbatterymaintainsitscharge
forabout50daysattemperatureslowerthan
4°C(40°F).
15.Checkandtightenallfasteners.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamaged.
16.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces
withpaintavailablefromyourauthorizedToro
distributor.
17.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.
18.Removethekeyfromthekeyswitchandputitin
asafeplaceoutofthereachofchildren.
19.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
