Your warranty rights and obligations
California law require s us to provide you with
the following Emi ssions Wa rr a nty St ate me nt
The California Air R esources B oa rd is pleased to
exp l ain the emission co ntrol system wa rranty on
your model year 2013 vehic le. In California, new
motor ve hi cles mus t be de signed, built and equip-
pe d to meet the State 's string ent anti-smog stand-
ards. Vo lk swage n must warrant the emission con-
trol system on your vehicle for the per iods of tim e
list
ed below provided there has been no abuse,
negl ect or improper maintenance of your vehicle.
Your
em ission cont rol system may include parts in-
cluding but not limited to the carburetor or fue l- in-
je ction system, the ignition system , catalytic con-
verte r, and engine computer. Also included m ay be
hoses, belts, connectors and oth er emi ss ion-rel at-
ed a sse mb lies.
Where a warran table condition exits, Volkswagen
will
repair yo ur vehicle at no cost to you including
diagnosis , parts and lab or .
Manufacturer 's warranty coverage :
For 3 ye ars or 50 , 000 miles , which e ver occurs
fi rst .
If you r vehicle fails a Smog Check inspection, all
n ecessary repairs and adjus tments will be made
by Vo lkswagen to ensure that you r vehicle passes
the in spect ion. This is yo ur Emi ssion Control Sys-
t em PERFORMANCE WARRANTY.
If any emission-related part on your vehicle is de-
fective, the part will be repaired or replaced by
Vo lkswagen. This is your short-term Emission Con -
trol System DEFECTS WARRANTY.
For 7 y ea rs or 70 ,000 miles, whichever occur s
first.
If an emission-related part listed in this war ranty
b
ooklet specially noted with coverage fo r 7 years
or 70 , 000 miles is defective, the part will be re-
paired or replaced by Volkswagen. This is your

ong-term Emiss io n Control System DE FECTS
WARRAN T Y.
For 15 years or 150 , 000 miles, whichev er oc-
curs first.
Some Vo l kswagen models may be specially equ ip-
ped to mee t Ca lif ornia Partial Zero Emission Ve-
hicle (" PZEV or ATPZEV") requirements, as ident i-
fied on the Ve hicle Emi ssion Cont rol Information
Label located
under the hood. For these ve hicles,
if y ou r Volkswagen mode l fails a Smog Check in-
spection, OR if any emission-related part is found
to be defective, the part will be repaired or re-
placed by Volkswage n for 15 years or 1 50 , 000
miles, whi cheve r occ urs fir st, from the t ime of de-
livery of the vehicle to the original retail pu r chase r
or original
lessee . This represents yo ur Emission
Control
System PERFORMANCE WARRAN TY
and DEFECTS WARRANTY.
For High- Vo ltage batteries in Hybrid model s eq uip-
ped to meet PZE V or ATPZEV requirements, th is
war ranty t er m is 10 years or 150,000 miles, wh ich -
ever occurs first.
Owner's warranty responsibilities :
As the vehi cle owner , you are r espons ible for t he
performance of th e required maintenance list ed in
yo ur Owner 's Maintenance book let. Volkswagen
recommends that you retain all re cei pts coveri ng
mainten ance on your vehicle, but Vo l kswagen can-
not deny war r anty solely for the l ack of receipts or
for
your failure to ensure the performance of all
schedul ed mai ntenance.
You
are responsible for presenting your vehic le to
a
Volkswagen deale r as soon as a problem exists.
The warranty repairs should be completed in a rea-
sonab le amount of ti me , not to exceed 30 days .
As the vehicle owner , you should also be aware
t hat Vo l kswagen may deny you warranty coverage
if
yo ur vehicle or a part has failed due to abuse ,
neglect,
improper maintenance or unapproved
mod ifications.
