If there is blood in the test strip opening or the meter displays the E4 or E5
message, follow these steps to clean it:
1. Remove the measurement optics cover by pushing up on the
right-hand side (where the arrow is) and lifting it off.
2. Clean the measurement optics with a cotton swab dampened
slightly with water, 1:10 bleach solution or 70% isopropyl alcohol.
Make sure no liquid enters the meter. Avoid scratching the measurement optics,
as this will impair the measuring function.
3. When the components are thoroughly dry put the measurement optics cover
back on by pressing down one side at a time. The cover quietly clicks into
place.
4. Run a control test (see pages 14 - 15) to make sure the meter is working
properly.
Always operate the meter with measurement optics cover in place.
