Chapter 5: Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Cleaning the Meter
During testing, blood is applied to the test strip and does not enter the meter. This helps reduce the need to
clean the meter. Should the measurement optics become dirty, an E4 or E5 error message will display and the
ACCU-CHEK Go meter will not permit glucose testing to occur.
If the display or the outside of the meter is dirty, wipe it off with a slightly damp cotton swab. You may use
water, 70% isopropyl alcohol or a 1:10 dilution of household bleach.
For disinfection, please take note of the contact time it takes for the bleach solution to act. Other cleaning agents
may damage the meter or impair its measuring function.
NOTE: Healthcare professionals should observe all relevant health and safety regulations. The meter can be
cleaned between uses or when the operator notices that the test strip guide has become visibly soiled.
