Battery Precautions
Replace the Battery
Follow these steps to replace the lithium battery in the logic module of PanelView Plus or
PanelView Plus Compact terminals.
1. Disconnect power from the terminal.
2. Place the terminal, display side down, on a flat stable surface.
3. Detach the communication module, if attached, from the logic module by removing the
four screws.
4. Loosen the six captive screws that attach the logic module to the display module.
5. Carefully lift the logic module away from the terminal and turn over to expose the circuit
board.
When you connect or disconnect the battery an electrical arc can occur. This could cause an
explosion in hazardous location installations. Be sure that power is removed and the area is
nonhazardous before proceeding.

leaking batteries, see Guidelines for Handling Lithium Batteries, publication AG 5-4. Replace the
battery only with the indicated catalog number.
Do not dispose of battery in a fire or incinerator. Dispose of used batteries in accordance with
local regulations.
Store batteries in a cool, dry environment. We recommend 25 °C (77 °F) with 40…60% relative
humidity. You may store batteries for up to 30 days between -45…85 °C (-49…185 °F), such as
during transportation. To avoid possible leakage, do not store batteries above 60 °C (140 °F) for
more than 30 days.
