Characters
135
A
slight
variation
on
this
is
that
if
the
characters
placed
on a naode 12
or
13
screen
are
in
inverse
video (i.e.
if
bit
seven
of
the
character
code
is
set),
the
colour
of
pixels
specified
by
the
bit
pair
11 is
taken
from
register
3
rather
than
register
2.
To
see
this
try
typing:
GRAPHICS 12:PRINT#6;"ABCDEFGABCDEFG"
with
the
second
half
of
the
message
in
inverse
video.
Areas
of
the
first
half
of
the
message
appearing
blue
(register
2
default
colour)
are
violet
in
the
second
half
of
the
message
(the
register
3
default
colour).
You
will
have
realised
by
now
that
to
make
full
use
of
mode
12
and
13
requires
a
special
character
set
which
will
have
to be
defined
in
the
usual
way,
but
taking
into
account
the
extra
considerations
of
colour
register
requirements,
The
applications
are
wide
ranging
and
this
is
an
economical
way
(in
terms
of
memory
requirements)
to
achieve
colourful
displays.
