Central locking from the outside
When the doors, luggage compart-
ment and fuel filler flap are closed
they can be locked and unlocked with
a key at the door lock.
At the same time, the deadlock is
operated. It prevents the doors from
being unlocked either at the safety
lock buttons or door handles.
aDo not lock the car either with
the key or the remote control if anyone
is to remain in it, since it cannot then
be unlocked from the inside.c
If your car is equipped with an alarm
system, it is also activated or de-acti-
vated with the key at the door lock.

tem, see Page 34.
Convenience circuit
The electric windows and the sliding/
tilt roof can also be operated via the
door lock.
To open: when the door is closed, turn
the key in the door lock to the release
position and hold it there.
To fasten: when the door is closed,
turn the key to the locking position
and hold it there.
Release the key to halt the movement.
Emergency operation
(in the event of an electrical malfunc-
tion)
When the key is turned to the limit of
movement in the door lock, the
driver's door can be unlocked or
locked.
Operating the central locking
system from the inside
If the safety button on a door is oper-
ated, the doors and luggage compart-
ment only are locked or unlocked, but
the deadlocks are not operated.
bIf the car is locked from the
inside at one of the safety buttons, the
fuel filler flap remains unlocked, so
that the car can be refuelled.c
Unlocking from the inside is also pos-
sible if one of the door handles is
pulled.
To avoid being accidentally locked out
of the car
d the car cannot be locked with the
lock button if the driver's door is
open.
d the lock button on the passenger's
door only operates the central
locking system if both doors are
closed.
aNote that children could lock the
doors from the inside if they are alone
in the car. Always take the key with
you so that the car can be unlocked
from the outside.c
