For safe operation
■ Keep work area clean
Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries.
■ Consider work area environment
Do not expose chain saws to rain. Do not use chain saws in
damp or wet locations. Keep work area well lit. Do not use
chain saws where there is risk to cause fire or explosion.
■ Protect yourself against electric shock
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces (e. g.
pipes, radiators, refrigerators, etc.).
■ Keep children away
Do not let other persons touch the chain saw or extension
cord. All bystanders should be kept away from the work
area. Children and juveniles, except above age 16, under
supervision and for educational purposes, must not operate
the chain saw, nor should persons unfamiliar with the saw or
its handling (when borrowing). Ensure operation manual is
with the saw. Persons unfit or tired must not operate the
chain saw.
■ Store idle chain saws safely
When not in use, chain saws should be stored in a dry and
locked up place, out of reach of children.
■ Avoid improper use or overload of chain saw
It will operate better and safer within its limits of application.
■ Use the right chain saw
Do not use light duty chain saws for heavy duty jobs. Only
use chain saws for cutting wood. Do not use a chain saw to
cut other building materials or plastic.
■ Dress properly
Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, they can be caught
in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to contain
long hair.
Wear gloves during assembly, chain tensioning and inspec-
tion in order to avoid injuries from the sharp cutting edges of
the chain.
Gloves, non-skid footwear and additional leg protectors are
recommended when working.
Wear protective helmets or hard hats in situations that might
result in head injuries.
■ Transporting the chain saw
Before transporting the chain saw; ensure the plug is pulled
from mains and chain guard is attached over chain/chain
bar.
■ Face and eye protection
Wear safety glasses to protect eyes. A face shield will pro-

■ Do not misuse the cord
Never carry the chain saw by the cord or pull it to disconnect
plug from the socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil and
sharp edges.
■ Secure work
Operate chain saw safely and always with both hands. Se-
cure loose wood or logs with brackets, saw horse or appro-

wood.
■ Do not overreach
Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
■ Maintain chain saw with care
Keep chains sharp and clean for correct and safer perform-
ance. Follow instructions for lubrication and changing acces-
sories. Inspect chain saw cord periodically and if damaged
have it repaired by an authorized service facility. Inspect ex-
tension cords periodically and replace, if damaged. Keep
handles dry clean and free from oil and grease.
■ Disconnect chain saw
When not in use, before servicing and when changing ac-
cessories such as chain or bar.
■ Remove adjusting keys and wrenches
Ensure keys and wrenches are removed prior to operation of
the chain saw.
■ Avoid unintentional starting
Handle chain saws connected to power carefully. When car-
rying out several cuts, turn off chain saw in between cuts be-
fore changing location and keep fingers away from the
On/Off switch.
■ Use outdoor extension leads
When the chain saw is used outdoors, use only extension
cords intended for outdoor use.
■ Stay alert
Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not
operate the chain saw when tired.
■ Check chain saw for damaged parts prior to opera-
tion
Before further use of the chain saw, any guard or other part
that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine,
that it will operate properly and perform its intended function.
Check for alignment and free running of moving parts,
breakage of parts, mounting and any other conditions that
may affect operation. A guard or other part that is damaged
should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized
service agent unless otherwise indicated in this instruction
manual. Have defective switches replaced only by an au-
