AIM Installation and Removal
Removing an AIM
If you need to remove an AIM, follow this procedure. You need a number 2 Phillips screwdriver.
Step 1 Locate the AIM to be removed.
Step 2 Use a number 2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws from the AIM as shown in Figure 61.

Carefully lift the AIM from the connector and the plastic standoff. Keep the AIM parallel with the
motherboard to prevent damage to the connector and plastic standoff. Place the AIM in an antistatic bag
to protect it from ESD damage.
To install an SDRAM DIMM, continue with the SDRAM DIMM Removal and Installation” procedure
on page 85. To install a PVDM, continue with the “PVDM Installation and Removal” procedure on
page 96. If you are finished installing components, continue with the “Reinstalling the Power Supply
Assembly in a Cisco 3825 Router” procedure on page 105 or the “Installing or Replacing the Plug-In
Motherboard in a Cisco 3845 Router” procedure on page 105.
