This process takes about 30 se
conds, and then the LED
turns green.

the adapter installed in the targe

Remove SFP Transceiver Modules
Complete thes
e steps in order to
remove the SFP transcei
ver:
1.
Attach an ESD-preventive
wrist strap to your wrist a
nd to the ESD ground conne
ctor or a bare
metal surfac
e on your chassi
s.
2.
Disconnect the network fiber-optic ca
ble or netwo
rk cop
per cable from
the
SFP Transceiv
er Module
connector.
For optical
SFP transcei
vers, immedia
tely reinst
al
l the dust plugs in the SFP transc
eiver optical
bores and the fiber
-optic cable LC connecto
rs.
Tip:
For reattachment of fiber
-optic cables, note which
connector plug is send (TX)
and which is
receive (RX
).
3.
Release and remov
e the SFP Transce
iver Module from th
e socket connec
tor.

If the S
FP transcei
ver has
a
Mylar tab latch
, pull the tab g
ently in a slightly downward
direction until th
e transceiver dise
ngages from
the socket c
onnector, an
d then pul
l the SFP
transceiver straigh
t out. Do n
ot twist or pull the
Mylar tab becau
se you c
ould detach it
from
the SFP transceiver.

If the S
FP transcei
ver has
an
Actuator button latch
, gently press the actuator
button on
the front of the SFP tran
sceiver until it clicks and the
latch mechanism
releases the SFP
transceiver from
the socket conn
ector. Grasp the actua
tor button between your
thumb and
index finger, a
nd carefully pull the SFP
transceiver straig
ht from the module slot.

a
Bale-clasp latch
, pull th
e bale out and dow
n to eject the SFP
transceiver from
the socket connector. If the bale-clas
p latch is obstru
cted and you cannot
use your index finger to op
en it, use a small fla
t-blade screwdrive
r or another long
narrow
instrument to open the ba
le-clasp latch. Grasp th
e SFP transceiver between
y
ou
r
thumb and
