One20AMPfuseisinstalledinyourtractor'swiringharnessto protectthetractor's
electricalsystemfromdamagecausedbyexcessiveamperage.
If theelectricalsystemdoesnotfunction,oryourtractor'senginewill notcrank,
firstcheckto becertainthatthefusehasnotblown.It canbefoundatthe rearof
theunit,underneaththefenderlocatedbythebattery.
Alwaysuseafusewith the sameamperagecapacityfor replacement.
Cutting Blades
Shutthe engineoff andremoveignitionkeybeforeremovingthe cutting
blade(s)for sharpeningor replacement.Protectyourhandsbyusingheavy
gloveswhengraspingthe blade.
Periodicallyinspectthe blade and/orspindlefor cracksordamage,
especiallyafter you'vestruckaforeign object.Donot operatethe machine
until damagedcomponentsarereplaced.
4. Toproperlysharpenthecuttingblades,removeequalamountsofmetal
frombothendsof thebladesalongthecuttingedges,parallelto thetrailing
edge,ata25°-to 30°angle.Alwaysgrindeachcutting bladeedgeequallyto
maintainproperbladebalance.SeeFigure20.

Toremovetheblades,proceedasfollows:
1. Removethedeckfrombeneaththetractor,(referto CuttingDeckRemoval
earlierinthissection)thengentlyflip thedeckoverto exposeitsunderside.
2. Placea blockofwoodbetweenthecenterdeckhousingbaffleandthe
cuttingbladetoactasastabilizer.See.
3. Removethehexflangenutthat securesthebladeto thespindleassembly.

If the cutting edgeof the bladehaspreviouslybeensharpened,or ifany
metal separationispresent,replacethe bladeswith newones.
A poorlybalancedbladewill causeexcessivevibration, maycausedamageto
the tractor and/orresultinpersonalinjury.
5. Testtheblade'sbalanceusinga bladebalancer.Grindmetalfromthe
heavysideuntil itbalancesevenly.
flOTE:Whenreplacingtheblade,besureto installthe bladewith thesideofthe
blademarked"Bottom" (orwith apartnumberstampedinit)facingtheground
whenthe mowerisintheoperatingposition.
Useatorquewrenchto tighten the bladespindlehexflangenut to between
70Ibs-ftand 90Ibs-ft.
Changingthe DeckBelt
Besureto shutthe engineoff, removeignitionkey,disconnectthe spark
plug wire(s)and groundagainstthe engineto prevent unintendedstarting
[before removng the bet.
All beltsonyourtractor aresubjecttowear andshouldbereplacedifany
signsofwear arepresent.
IM PORTA NT: TheV-beltfoundonyourtractorisspeciallydesignedto engage
anddisengagesafely.Asubstitute(non-OEM)V-beltcanbedangerousbynot
disengagingcompletely.Foraproperworkingmachine,useidenticalequipment
beltsaslistedinthepartspagesof thisOperator'sManual.
