6/Chain tension for single speed bicycles
The chain transmits the energy that you supply when you pedal to the wheel. As
with cars, a "gearbox" is there to adapt the speed of the engine (your legs) to
that
of the wheels.
A correctly stretched chain moves up or down about 1 cm.
Tension is adjusted by advancing for bringing back on the back wheel.
Frequently check tension and the condition of the chain: it should always be
lubri-
cated and clean.
