e) Gated Kick drum: useful when compressing heavily (see below)
THRESHOLD: probably between 1 and 4 oclock, adjust so that gate just opens on
the softest beats.
RELEASE: 7 oclock
FULL RANGE
FAST ATTACK (use normal attack for a softer transient at the start of each beat)

2) COMPRESSOR
a) Lead vocal: this gives moderate compression to help the singer sit well up in
the mix. Depending on their style and training, more (lower threshold, higher ratio)
or less (higher threshold, lower ratio) compression may be needed.
THRESHOLD: set for 6...9dB compression, approx 10 oclock
RATIO: 10 oclock
ATTACK: 1 oclock
RELEASE: 2 oclock
BASS EXPAND: 7 oclock
MAKE UP: Adjust for level match, approx 11 oclock
SOFT KNEE
COMP IN
b) Background vocals: fairly heavy compression to provide a
steady wash of
backing that stays audible even when well down in the mix.
THRESHOLD: set for 12dB or so compression, approx 10 oclock
RATIO: 12 oclock
ATTACK: 1 oclock
RELEASE: 3 oclock
BASS EXPAND: 7 oclock
e) Gated Kick Drum; nützliche Einstellung bei hoher Kompressionsrate (siehe
unten).
THRESHOLD - Einstellung 1 - 4 Uhr; stellen Sie den Wert so ein, daß das Gate bereits
bei leisen Impulsen öffnet.
RELEASE / HOLD - 7 Uhr
FULL RANGE
ATTACK - fast; benutzen Sie eine normale ATTACK Einstellung, wenn die Kick Drum
weich angeschlagen wird.
GATE IN
2. KOMPRESSOR
a) Lead Vocal; diese moderate Einstellung hilft dem Sänger bei seiner Präsenz im Mix.
Je nach Stimmlage und Ausbildung ist eine höhere (weniger Threshold, mehr Ratio)
oder niedrigere Kompression (mehr Threshold, weniger Ratio) notwendig.
THRESHOLD - ca. 10 Uhr bei 6 - 9dB Kompression
RATIO - 10 Uhr
ATTACK - 1 Uhr
RELEASE - 2 Uhr
BASS EXPAND - 7 Uhr
MAKE UP - nach Bedarf; ca. 11 Uhr

b)Background Vocals; hohe Kompression für beständig hörbares Backing, leicht
untergeordnet im Mix.
THRESHOLD - ca. 10 Uhr bei 12dB und mehr Kompression
