Clear Continuous DTCs
On-Demand Self-Test
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes
If DTC P0500, GO to F3 .
If DTC B1342, REPLACE the GEM; REFER to Section 419-10. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the
system for normal operation.
No
GO to F2.
F2 CHECK THE PID SPEEDWP
Monitor the PID SPEEDWP.
Does the PID SPEEDWP indicate ACTIVE?
Yes
GO to F3.
No
SET the active command SPD WIPER to ON. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal
operation.
F3 MONITOR THE VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL TO THE GEM— GEM PID VSS
Monitor the GEM PID VSS.
Drive the vehicle 0 to 88.5 km/h (55 mph).
Does the GEM PID VSS agree with the speedometer?
Yes
GO to F4.
No
GO to F5.
F4 CARRY OUT THE VEHICLE SPEED MESSAGE CENTER SELF-TEST
Carry out the vehicle speed message center self-test. Refer to Message Center Self-Test in
Section 413-08.
Is the message center receiving the vehicle speed signal?
Yes
GO to F6.
No
GO to F5.
F5 CHECK CIRCUIT 679 (GY/BK) FOR OPEN BETWEEN PCM C174 AND FUSE JUNCTION PANEL C243
