any position between the parked position and low limit of travel (on glass). When the blade is
between the high and low limits of travel, the PID R_WP_PK should indicate notPARK.
Monitor the PID R_WP_PK while the wipers are moving.
Does the PID R_WP_PK change between PARKED and notPARK as expected?
Yes
CHECK wiper arm to motor shaft for proper alignment.
No
If the PID R_WP_PK always indicates PARKED, GO to H3 .
If the PID R_WP_PK always indicates notPRK, GO to H5 .
If the PID R_WP_PK changes values, but does not correspond with the intended operation,
CHECK the wiper arm for proper alignment with the motor. If OK, REPLACE the rear wiper
motor; REFER to Motor—Rear Wiper. TEST the system for normal operation.
H3 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW MOTOR SWITCH — MONITOR THE PID R_WP_PK
Rear Wiper Motor C447
Monitor the PID R_WP_PK.
Does the PID still indicate PARKED?
Yes
GO to H4.
No
REPLACE the rear wiper motor; REFER to Motor—Rear Wiper. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the
system for normal operation.
H4 CHECK CIRCUIT 587 (PK/Y) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
GEM C240
Measure the resistance between rear wiper motor C447, Circuit 587 (P/Y) and ground.
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
REPLACE the GEM; REFER to Section 419-10. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for
normal operation.
No
REPAIR Circuit 587 (P/Y). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
