3.2.3 LV-DIMM support
LV-DIMMs will be supplied with 1.35 V instead of the 1.5 V of the NV-DIMMs
(normal voltage DIMMs).
Anyway LV-DIMMs can also be operated with 1.5V so that mixing of LV-DIMMs
and NV-DIMMs is possible. In this case all DIMMs will be operated with 1.5 V.
Using LV-DIMMs with Nehalem-EP processors is also possible but in this case
the DIMMs will always be supplied with 1.5 V.
When using two LV-DIMMs 1333 MHz per channel the operating voltage
respective speed depends on the BIOS setup memory settings "Auto" /
"Energy" / "Performance":
The speed and operating voltage settings apply to all six sockets of one CPU in
common.
"Auto" speed is set to 1066 MHz; operating voltage is set to 1.35 V
"Energy" speed is set to 800 MHz; operating voltage is set to 1.35 V
"Performance" speed is set to 1333 MHz; operating voltage is set to 1.5 V
