When any error occurrs, the operator panel indicates "U" followed by a number for temporary errors or "E" followed by a
number for device alarms (permanent error). Temporary errors can be resolved by the operator, but the device alarm requires
recovery works by support engineers.
When the Error Recovery Guide is installed on your PC, its window appears when Windows is started up. If any error or device
alarm occurred, this software displays information such as error names and error codes regarding the error/alarm. Record the
information and click [Details] on its window to learn detailed information for trouble shooting.
Temporary Errors :
Indication Meaning Remedy

Shipping lock error(fi-5220C
only)
Confirm that the shipping lock is released. For details refer toA[fi-5120C/fi-
5220C Getting Start section 2.1 Installing the Scanner].
U1 Paper Feed Error
Remove the jammed documents. Refer to "
6.1 Removing
JammedDocuments".
Confirm that the documents meet the paper conditions for scanning. Refer
to "
7.2 Document Quality".
U2 Multi Feed Error
U4
The ADF has been opened
during scanning.
Close the ADF cover completely. For the details, refer to "6
TROUBLESHOOTING".
U6
The print cartridge is not set.(fi-
5120C only)
This is a temporary error related withthe Imprinter option (sold separately).
For details refer to 553PR Operator's Guide, chapter "5 Error Message".
HINT
The Error Recover Guide is stored in Setup CD-ROM. When installing the application
software, refer to "2.1 Installing the Scanner Application" in fi-5120C/fi-5220C Getting
Started.
