Transducer Coverage
Transducer Coverage
The area covered by the transmitted sound waves is determined by the
cone angle of the transducer and the water depth. Using Garmins standard
20° transducer, the coverage is approximately 1/3rd of the water depth.
As shown in Example 1, the coverage area at a 30 foot depth is approxi-
mately a 10 foot diameter circle. The scale below illustrates how coverage
increases as depth increases.
