Installation Instructions
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Electrical Requirements
120-volt,60 Hertz,properly grounded branch circuit
protected by a iS-amp or 20-amp circuit breaker
or time-delay fuse.
Extension Cord Cautions
Becauseof potential safety hazards associated with certain
conditions, we strongly recommend against the use of
an extensioncord. However,if you stillelect to use an
extension cord, it isabsolutely necessarythat it be a
UL-listed,]-wire grounding-type appliance extension cord
and that the current carrying rating of the cord in amperes
be equivalent to, or greater than, the branch circuit rating.

Thepower cord ofthis appliance is equippedwith a
]-prong (grounding)plug which mateswith a standard
]-prong grounding wall receptacleto minimizethe
possibility of electricshockhazard from this appliance.
Thecustomer should havethe wall receptacle and circuit
checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the
receptacle isproperly grounded.
Where a standard 2-prong wall receptacle isencountered, it
isthe personal responsibility and obligation of the customer
to haveit replaced with a properly grounded ]-prong wall
receptacle.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, CUT OR REMOVE
THE THIRD (GROUND) PRONG FROM THE POWER CORD.
A word about GFCIs- GFCIsare not required or
recommended for gas range receptacles.
Ground FaultCircuit Interrupters(GFCIs)are devicesthat
senseleakage of current in a circuit and automatically
switch off power when a threshold leakage levelis detected.
Thesedevicesmust be manually reset by the consumer.
TheNational ElectricalCode requiresthe use of GFCIsin
kitchen receptacles installedto servecountertop surfaces.
Performanceofthe range will not be affected ifoperated
on a GFCI-protectedcircuit but occasionalnuisance tripping
of the GFCIbreaker is possible.

A. Usage Situations Where Appliance Power Cord Will
Be Disconnected Infrequentlg.
An adapter may be usedonly on a iS-amp circuit.
Do not usean adapter on a 20-amp circuit. Where local
codes permit, a TEMPORARYCONNECTIONmay be
made to a properly grounded 2-prong wall receptacle by
the useof a UL-listedadapter, availableat most hardware
stores. The larger slot inthe adapter must be aligned
with the larger slot in the wall receptacleto provide
proper polarity inthe connection of the power cord.

^_CAUTION: Attaching the adapter ground
terminal to the wall receptacle cover screw does not
ground the appliance unlessthe cover screw is metal,
and not insulated, and the wall receptacle is grounded
through the house wiring. Thecustomer should have
the circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make
surethe receptacle isproperly grounded.
When disconnecting the power cord from the adapter,
always hold the adapter with one hand. If this is not done,
the adapter ground terminal isvery likelyto break with
repeated use.Should this happen, DO NOTUSEthe
appliance until a proper ground hasagain been established.
