5. Loosen jam nuts on cable adjustment
barrel.
6. Adjust cable tension: While pulling up on
the cable, tighten the upper jam nut until
cable is taut, without lifting the brake arm.
Tighten lower jam nut once adjusted.
7. Engage parking brake and ensure there
is separation of spring coils on cable.
8. Check parking brake and readjust if
necessary. See Check Parking Brake on
page 18.
IMPORTANT: Make sure both parking brake
cables are within adjustment range.
9. Reinstall tire/wheel assembly and secure
with original hardware. Torque lug nuts to
81.3 N•m – 122.0 N•m (60 lb-ft – 90 lb-ft).
REMOVE AND INSTALL MOWER
DECK
Remove Deck
1. Place unit in service position. See
Service Position on page 16.
2. Set deck to lowest cutting height.
3. Position supports, such as wood blocks,
under mower deck.
4. Remove PTO belt. See Remove PTO
Belt on page 25.
5. Model 991145 Only: Slowly disconnect
lift-assist springs from spring peg on each
side of deck. See Figure 44.
6. Remove hardware retaining drag links.
Retain hardware for reinstallation. See
Figure 45.
7. Loosen wing knobs securing belt covers
to deck and remove belt covers.
