Replacing the PTO Clutch Belt on Models with
Idler Springs:
1. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key. Put
the PTO switch in the "Off" position.
2. Remove the mower belt from the electric clutch.
3. Remove the idler spring, PTO belt, and the
electric clutch (Figure 2).
4. Install the electric clutch and torque the bolt to 50
ft.-lbs.
5. Put the new PTO clutch belt on the sheave, idler
pulley and double groove engine sheave.
Replace with PTO idler spring.
6. Put the mower belt back on the electric clutch and
tension the mower belt per mower owner/operator
manual.
Replacing the Transmission Belt on Models
with Idler Springs:
1. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key. Put
the PTO switch in the “Off” position.
2. Remove the PTO idler spring. Remove belt from
the idler pulley and double groove engine sheave.
(Figure 2).
3. Remove the four screws and fan guard from the
frame.
4. Remove the bolt, lock washer, flat washer, and
fan from the transmission sheave.
5. Remove the transmission idler spring. Remove
the transmission belt, first from the idler pulley
and then from the double groove engine sheave.
6. Install the new transmission belt onto the engine
sheave and then idler pulley. Replace the idler
spring.
7. Install the PTO clutch belt and the idler spring.
Replacing The PTO Clutch Belt on Models with
Idler Rods.
1. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key. Put
the PTO switch in the “Off” position.
2. Remove the mower belt from the electric clutch.
(See Figure 3)
3. Remove the electric clutch. Apply enough
pressure to the idler assembly to remove the belt.
4. Put the new PTO clutch belt on the sheave, idler
pulley and double groove engine sheave. The
belt tension spring should be set at a length of 1.8
inches.
5. Readjust the PTO clutch, if necessary. Install the
electric clutch and torque the bolt to 50 ft.-lbs.
6. Put the mower belt back on the electric clutch and
tension the mower belt per the Mower Operator’s
Manual.
7. Check belt tension after 1 hour of usage and
every 50 hours thereafter.
Replacing The Transmission Belt on Models
with Idler Rods.
1. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key. Put
the PTO switch in the “Off” position.
2. Apply enough pressure to the PTO idler assembly
to remove belt from the idler pulley and double
groove engine sheave (Figure 3).
CAUTION: Before performing any service or
adjustments:
• Turn PTO switch "OFF".
• Park mower on a hard, flat, level surface.
• Set parking brake.
• Turn ignition switch "OFF" and remove
key.
• Wait for all moving parts to stop.
• Disconnect spark plug wire(s) from
spark plug(s) and place wire(s) away
from plug.
