3. Check the air cleaner.
Check the air cleaner elements tobe sure they are clean and in good
condition.
Loosen the maintenance cover screw and remove the maintenance
cover. Loosen the air cleaner cover screw, and remove the air cleaner
cover,
check the elements.
Clean or replace
the elements if necessary (see page 42) .
CAUTION:
Never run the engine without the air cleaner elements. Rapid engine
wear will result from contaminants, such as dust and dirt, being drawn
through the carburetor, into the engine .

5. STARTING THE ENGINE
Before starting the engine disconnect any load from the AC receptacle.
1. Turn
the fuel filler cap vent lever fully clockwise to the ON position.
NOTE:
Turn
the fuel filler cap vent lever to the OFF position when
transporting the generator.
