2.4 Removing VITO temperature probe on cryogenic tank
Warning
Open the vent screw when removing the VITO temperature probe
from a cryogenic tank.
This must be done to prevent the hose of the VITO temperature probe to shrink in an
uncontrolled matter, which can harm persons.
In cryogenic applications, a vacuum can be
created in the stainless steel hose of the VITO
temperature probe.
When removing the VITO temperature probe
and there is such a vacuum inside the hose,
there can become a dangerous situation for
those persons, removing the probe.
To prevent this, the VITO probes for cryogenic
temperature measurement have an additional
coupling with a vent screw.
The vent screw is located below the coupling
with the adjusting pipe.
Just lift the VITO temperature probe till the vent
screw can be reached and remove the vent
screw before completely retracting the VITO
temperature probe. Refer to figure 6.
