12 TROUBLESHOOTING
12.1 GENERAL________________________________________________________________
The troubleshooting chart below lists basic problems that may occur during start-up and operation. For more detailed
information, contact your area Jacobsen Dealer.
Symptoms Possible Causes Action
Unit does not have
1. Power Connector Disconnected 1. Connect Power Connector
power
2. Batteries Discharged 2. Fully charge battery pack
3. Engine not running 3. Start engine before attempting to energize unit
4. 50 Amp fuse blown 4. Open battery tray and check fuse. Replace if
required
5. 30 Amp fuse blown 5. Remove handle cover and check fuse. Replace if
required
6. Defective Battery 6. Perform load test, replace batteries as needed
7. O.P.C. bail engaged 7. Disengage bail and restart
Engine will not
start.
1. Choke in wrong position 1. See Engine Manual
2. Empty fuel tank or dirty fuel 2. Drain and refill fuel tank with fresh, clean fuel
3. Fuel Shut-off valve closed 3. Open fuel shut-off valve
4. Engine / Spark Plug 4. See Engine Manual
5. Engine switch off 5. Turn engine switch to On
Engine hard to start
or runs poorly,
looses power or
stalls.
1. Choke in wrong position 1. See Engine Manual
2. Dirty or incorrect fuel 2. Refill with proper grade, clean fuel
3. Loose Wiring 3. Check spark plug wire
4. Air intake plugged 4. Clean air intake and air cleaner
5. Vent in fuel cap plugged 5. Clean fuel cap
Mower does not
react properly to
O.P.C. Lever
1. Power switch not on 1. Follow proper start-up procedure
2. Parking brake engaged 2. Disengage parking brake
3. Reel switch in off position 3. Turn reel switch on
4. Broken Belt 4. Check and replace belts as needed
5. Bail lever not properly calibrated 5. Calibrate bail lever
6. Traction motor fault 6. Check LCD display, service traction motor
Reel does not cut,
or cuts unevenly
1. Reel to bedknife not adjusted 1. Adjust Reel to Bedknife
2. Reel switch in off position 2. Turn reel switch on
3. Reel motor fault 3. Check LCD display, service reel motor
4. Low battery charge 4. Fully charge battery pack
5. Over Voltage condition 5. Adjust generator output
