result of
such
input
overdrive
Is
audible
distortion
without
any
indication
from
the CLIP
LED.
If you
feel
you
may
have
this
condition,
simply
lower
the
level
at the
source
and use a
higher
setting
on the
amplifier’s
Level
control.

ABOUT
SENSITIVITY
RATINGS
With regard
to
sensitivity
ratings,
power
amplifiers
are
unique.
Other audio
signal
processing
and
mixing
equipment
sensitivity
describes
the
averaqe
Input/output
level,
whereas
a
power
amplifier’s
sensitivity
describes
the
input
signal
required
to
obtain max
i mum power
output.
If a
mixer,
equalizer, or
other
device
is
rated
at
+4
dB
nominal
output,
that
average
level
could
continuously
overdrive
the
power
amplifier.
This is
why a
level
control
is
provided
on
the
amplifier.
By
turning
down
the
level
at
the
amplifier,
input
sensitivity
is
reduced
so
that
only peaks
drive
the
amplifier
to full
output.
With a
mixer,
equalizer,
etc.
rated
at
-10
dB
to
-15
dB
nominal
output,
little
or
no
attenuation
Is
required
in
the
power
amplifier.
