TROUBLESHOOTING S-16
S-16 Vibration is excessive
fl If there is abnormal noise together with the
vibration, carry out troubleshooting for “Ab-
normal noise is made”.
General causes why vibration is excessive
• Defective parts (abnormal wear, breakage)
• Improper alignment
• Abnormal combustion
Confirm recent repair history
Degree of use of machine
Condition of vibration
Non-specified oil is being used
Metal particles are found in oil filter
Metal particles are found when oil is drained
Oil pressure is low at low idling
Vibration occurs at mid-range speed
Vibration follows engine speed
Exhaust smoke is black
Seal on fuel injection pump has come off
Worn connecting rod, main bearing
Worn cam bushing
Worn support pilot
Loose engine mounting bolts, broken cushion

When radial runout, face runout are measured, they are

Remove head cover and inspect directly
Fuel injection pump test shows that fuel injection amount is incorrect
