Valves
1. Compress the valve spring, and remove the spring
retainer
(1) and valve spring (2).
2. Remove the exhaust valve (3).
3. Remove the intake valve as above.
(When reassembling)
• Clean
off any carbon on the valve stem and valve
guide hole, and apply engine oil sufficiently .
• When repairing
or replacing the valves, be sure to
lap each valve onto its seat.

Crankcase Cover
1. Unscrew the crankcase cover mounting screws.
2. Tap the crankcase cover (3) with a plastic hammer
to remove it.
3. Remove the shims (1), (2) on the shafts.
•
NOTE
• The crankcase cover is fixed at two places by
dowel pins, and thus cannot be removed easily.
Never
try to pry it open with a screwdriver, etc.
(When reassembling)
• Replace
the crankcase cover gasket with a new
one.
• Install
the shims in the original position.
•
Apply grease to the oil seal lip and take care that it
is not rolled when installing the crankcase cover.
