Checkingthebatterystatus
ThebatterystatusiconintheWindowsnotificationareadisplaysthepercentageofbatterypowerremaining.
Therateatwhichyouusebatterypowerdetermineshowlongyoucanusethebatteryofyourcomputer
betweencharges.Becauseofdifferentuserhabitsandneeds,itisdifficulttopredicthowlongabattery
chargewilllast.Therearetwomainfactors:
•Howmuchenergyisstoredinthebatterywhenyoubegintowork.
•Thewayyouuseyourcomputer.Forexample:
–Howoftenyouaccesstheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive.
–Howbrightyoumakethecomputerdisplay.
–Howoftenyouusethewirelessfeatures.
Tocheckfordetailedbatterystatusinformation,dothefollowing:
•ForWindows7:StartthePowerManagerprogramandclicktheBatterytab.
•ForWindows8.1:StarttheLenovoSettingsprogramandclickPower.
EnablingthebatteryalarmontheWindows7operatingsystem
FortheWindows7operatingsystem,youcanprogramyourcomputersothatwhenthebatterypowerfalls
belowacertainlevel,threeeventsoccur:thealarmgoesoff,amessageisdisplayed,andtheLCDturnsoff.
Toenablethebatteryalarm,dothefollowing:
1.StartthePowerManagerprogram.
2.ClicktheGlobalPowerSettingstab.
3.ForLowbatteryalarmorCriticallylowbatteryalarm,setthepercentageofthepowerlevelandset
theaction.
Note:Ifyourcomputerenterssleeporhibernationmodewhenthebatteryislow,butthealarmmessage
hasnotyetbeendisplayed,themessagewillbedisplayedwhenthecomputerresumes.Toresumenormal
operation,whenthemessageisdisplayed,clickOK.
Chargingthebatteries
Itisrecommendedthatyouchargethebatteryorreplaceitwithachargedbatterywhenthebatterypower
remainingislow.Forexample:
•Whenyoufindthatthepercentageoftheremainingpowerislow
•Whenthepoweralarmalertsyou
Ifanacoutletisconvenient,plugtheacpoweradapterintotheoutlet,andthenplugitintoacpower
connectorofthecomputer.Dependingonthebatterysizeandthephysicalenvironment,thebatterywill
befullychargedinaboutthreetosixhours.Thebattery-statusindicatorhelpsyouidentifythatthebattery
ischarging,andalsonotifiesyouwhenthebatteryisfullycharged.
Note:Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,thecomputerdoesnotstartrechargingthebatteryiftheremaining
powerisgreaterthan95%.
