Removing the Motor
IMPORTANT: Ensure the proper procedures are followed for transportation and
storage of the outboard to avoid the possibility of oil leaks.
1. Stop the engine and close the air vent screw.
2. Close the fuel valve knob. Disconnect the fuel connector.
3. Remove the motor from the hull and completely drain the water from the
gearcase.
Carrying the Motor
Be sure to keep the engine vertical posture whenever you carry the motor.

NOTE: If you carry the motor horizontal posture, keep the power head higher
than the propeller.
IMPORTANT: Beware of explosion danger. Spilled and vapored gasoline may
easily catch fire and explode. Be sure to fully discharge gasoline from the
carburetors when transporting the engine. Wipe off spilled gasoline with a rag.
Storing the Motor
1. With the outboard still in the water, close the fuel shut‑off valve or
disconnect the remote fuel line (if equipped) and run engine until it stops.
This will drain fuel from the carburetor. Remove outboard from the boat
and hold upright until all cooling water is drained out.
