Thepurposeoftheparkingaidsystemisto
assistthedriverduringreversing!Thesensors
maynotbeabletodetectcertaintypes
ofobstruction,e.g.narrowpostsorsmall
objectsnomorethanafewincheswide,
smallobjectsclosetotheground,objects
abovethetailgateandsomeobjectswith
nonreectivesurfaces.
Keepthesensorsfreefromdirt,iceandsnow.
Ifdepositsbuilduponthesurfaceofthe
sensors,theirperformancemaybeimpaired.
Whenwashingthecar,avoidaiminghigh
pressurewaterjetsdirectlyatthesensors
fromcloserange.
RearParkingAid
Theultrasonicsensorsontherearbumpermonitorthe
areabehindthevehicletosearchforobstacles.Ifan
obstacleisdetected,thesystemwillcalculateitsdistance
fromtherearofthevehicleandcommunicatesthemessage
tothedriverbysoundingwarningchimes.
ParkingAidOperation
RearParkingAid
WhentheignitionswitchisinpositionON/RUN/START ,
therearparkingaidisenabledautomaticallywhenreverse
gearisselected,anditisswitchedoffassoonasreverse
gearisdisengaged.Ashortbeepisgivenbytheparkingaid
appr.1secondafterselectingthereversegeartoindicate
thatthesystemisoperatingnormally.Ifanobstructionis
detectedattherear,thesystemwillpromptthedriverwith
warningalarms.
Note:Ifalonger,higherpitchedsoundisemitted(for
approximate3seconds)whenreversegearisselected,
thisindicatesafaultinthesystem.Seekassistance
fromyourMGAuthorisedRepairer.
