Shell-edging
Shell-edging
is
especially
attractive
on
thin,
soft
fabrics
such
as
silk
and
viscose.
It
is
often
used
as
an
edging
on
lingerie.
The
higher
the
needle
thread
tension,
the
I
deeper
the
shell
edge
feed.
•
Serge
the
fabric
edge
and
iron
the
seam
allowance
to
the
left.
•
Take
care
that
the
fabric
only
runs
half
underneath
the
presser
foot
while
sewing.
This
intensifies
the
effect
of the
shell-edging.

By
sewing
a
colored
woollen
thread
into
the
seam
you
strengthen
the
shell-
edge
while
also
creating
an
attractive
contrast
in
the
seam.
A
fine
fabric
of
another
color
can
also
be
used
instead
