Fog the Engine
2Cycle- Use P olaris Fogging Oil and follow the directions on the can.
4-Cycle - Remove the spark plug and add 2-3 tablespoons of Premium 4
Synthetic 0W40 engine oil. To access the plug hole, use a section of clear
1/4ā hose and a small plastic squeeze bottle fille d with the pre- me a sure d
amount of oil. Note: Do this car ef ully! If you miss the plug hole, oil will
dra in from the spark plug ca vity into the hole at the front of the cylinder
hea d, and appe ar to be an oil leak. Insta ll the spark plug and pull the
engine over slowly with the rec oil star te r. Oil will be for ce d in and
ar ound the piston rings and ring lands, coating the cylinde r with a
prote ctive film of fr esh oil.
If you choose not to use Polaris Fogging Oil, perform the following
procedure.
1. Support the front end of the machine so the engine is level or tilted
slightly rearward.
2. Remove the spark plug(s). Rotate the piston to BDC and pour
approximately two ounces of Polaris-recommended oil into the
cylinder. NOTE: Be sure to use 2-cycle oil in 2-cycle engines and
4-cycle oil in 4-cycle engines.
3. Apply diele ctric gre ase to the inside of the spark plug cap and install
the cap onto the plug.
4. Turn the engine over several times to ensure coverage of piston
rings, cylinder walls and crankshaft bearings.
5. Treat the fuel system with Polaris Carbon Clean.
6. If Polaris fuel system additive is not used, fuel tank, fuel lines, and
carburetor should be completely drained of gasoline. To eliminate
any fuel remaining in the carburetor, run the engine until it stops.
Lubricate
Inspect all cables and lubricate with Polaris Cable Lubricant. Follow
lubrication guidelines in the m aintenance section of the service or
ownerās m anual to completely grease and lubricate t he entire vehicle
with Polaris Premium All Season Grease. Apply Polaris O-Ring Chain
Lube to the drive chain(s).
