Cleaning and Storage
Storage Tips
Fog the Engine
1. Treat the fuel system with Polari s Carbon Clean, following the
instructions on the can. Run the engine for several minutes so the
Carbon Clean reaches the injectors. Turn the engine off.
2. Re move the spark plugs and add 2-3 tablespoons of Premium 4
Synthetic 0W40 engine oil. To access the plug holes, use a section of
clear 1/4ā hose and a small plastic squeeze bottle filled with the
pre -me asur ed amount of oil.
NOTE: Do this carefully! If you miss the plug holes, oil will drain from
the spark plug cavities into the hole at the front of the cylinder
head, and appear to be an oil leak.
3. Re install the spark plugs. Torque to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
4. Apply dielectric grease to the inside of each spark plug cap and
re install the ca ps onto the plugs.
5. Turn the engine over sever al times. Oil will be forc e d in and ar ound
the piston rings an d ring la nds, coa ting the cylinder with a pro tec tive
film of fre sh oil.
6. If Polaris fuel s ystem additive is not used, fuel tank, fuel lines, and
injectors should be completely drained of gasoline.
Inspect and Lubricate
Inspect all cables and lubricate. Follow lubrication guidelines in the
Maintenance Section of the service or ownerās manual to completely
grease and lubricate the entire vehicle with Polaris Premium All
Season Grease.
Battery Maintenance
Remove the battery and recharge it as outlined on page 95. Store the
battery in a cool, dry place.
Engine Anti-Freeze
Test engine coolant strength and change if necessary. Coolant should
be replaced every two years.
Storage Area/Covers
Set the tire pressure and safely support the ATV with the tires 1-2ā off
the ground. Be sure the storage area is well ventilated, and cover the
mac hine with a genuine Polaris ATV cove r.
NOTE: Do not use plastic or coated materials. They do not allow
enough ventilation to prevent condensation, and may promote
corrosion and oxidation.
