Disk
functions
(EM-50)
The
Disk
mode
allows
you
to
save
the
Recorder
Song
in
the
internal
Song
RAM
memory
to
disk,
to
save
and
load
your
User
Programs
to
and
from
disk,
to
for-
mat
floppy
disks,
to
delete
files
on
a
floppy
disk,
and
to
copy
disks.
You
are
free
to
use
2DD
or
2HD
disks.
Please
bear
in
mind,
however,
that
2HD
disks
have
twice
the
capaci-
ty
of
2DD
disks,
so
use
2HDs
whenever
you
can.
Whenever
the
disk
drive
writes
data
to
or
reads
data
on
disk,
the
Disk
icon
{
)
flashes
in
the
dis-
play.
Do
not
remove
the
floppy
disk
while
this
icon
is
displayed
as
that
may
damage
both
the
disk
drive
and
the
disk
(so
that
it
becomes
unreadable).
Note:
The
following
only
applies
to
the
EM-50.
The
EM-30
does
not
have
a
disk
drive.
Loading
files
from
disk
There
are
two
Load
functions:
LOAD
UPr—This
function
allows
you
to
transfer
a
set
of
64
User
Programs
(i.e.
for
all
eight
banks)
to
the
EM-50’s
internal
memory.
This
will
overwrite
the
User
Programs
that
currently
reside
in
the
internal
memories.
LOAD
CSt—This
function
allows
you
to
transfer
a
set
of
8
Music
Styles
from
floppy
to
the
EM-50/30's
Cus-
tom
Style
memories
(1~8,
see
also
page
16),
thereby
overwriting
the
eight
Music
Styles
that
currently
reside
in
the
EM-50’s
Custom
Style
memories.
Note:
If
you
wish
to
use
the
User
Programs
or
Custom
Styles
in
the
internal
memory
at
a
later
stage,
first
save
them
to
disk
before
proceeding.

57.
1.
Insert
a
disk
into
the
drive.
2.
Press
MENU
AY
to
place
the
mode
arrow
(<4)
next
to
the
LOAD
entry.

responds

The
ENT
mes-
sage
to
its
left
flashes.
3.
Press
the
[ENTER]
button.

Use
the
MENU
A
V
buttons
to
select
either
LUAL:
UPF
orLŪAD
ESt.
5.
Press
[ENTER]
again.
6.
Use
the
MENU
A V
buttons
to
select
the
file
whose
contents
you
wish
to
load
(example:
“USPR_000”).
The
ENT
message
and
the
file
number
flash
alterna-
tively.

7.
Press
the
[ENTER]
button
to
load
the
selected
file.
Note:
Press
[CANCEL]
if
you
do
not
want
to
load
the
selected
file
after
all.
You
need
to
do
so
before
pressing
[ENTER].
If
you
pressed
[ENTER],
the
display
now
shows
the
message
L.ciadiria.
Once
the
data
have
been
loaded,
the
Complete
message
briefly
appears.
8,
Press
[CANCEL]
several
times
to
select
another
mode.
Possible
error
messages
No
Disk—You
forgot
to
insert
a
floppy
disk
into
the
drive.
No
Files—The
disk
you
insert
contains
no
User
Pro-
gram
or
Custom
Style
Set
data.
Disk
Err—The
disk
is
probably
damaged
and
cannot
be
used.
File
Err—The
file
you
selected
is
damaged
and
cannot
be
loaded.
Saving
files
to
disk
The
EM-50
provides
the
following
Save
functions:
SAVE
Sng—This
allows
you
to
save
the
Song
in
the
internal
memory
to
a
floppy
disk.
Please
note
that
a
Song
saved
to
disk
becomes
a
Standard
MIDI
File.
You
can
therefore
no
longer
replace
the
Realtime
parts
(“2nd
TRACK”)
with
new
versions
after
transferring
the
Song
back
to
the
EM-50's
internal
memory.
By
the
way:
there
is
no
LOAD
Sng
function.
All
you
need
to
do
to
transfer
the
Song
data
back
to
the
EM-50's
internal
Song
memory
is
play
back
the
Stan-
dard
MIDI
File
in
guestion.
Note:

SAVE
UPr—Use
this
function
to
save
the
contents
of
the
EM-50's
internal
User
Program
memories
(all
64
of
them)
to
a
floppy
disk.
SAVE
CSt—This
function
allows
you
to
save
the
con-
tents
of
all
eight
Custom
Style
memories
to
disk.
1.
Insert
a
blank
disk
into
the
drive.
See
page
34
for
a
few
precautions
you
may
want
to
take.
2.
Press
MENU
AV
to
place
the
mode
arrow
(<4)
next
to
the
SAVE
entry.
The
display
now
responds
with
ZALE.
The
ENT
mes-
sage
to
its
left
flashes.
3.
Press
the
[ENTER]
button.
4.
Use
the
MENU
A
V
buttons
to
select
HUE
Sa,
SAUE
UPF,
orSHLE
CSL.
5.
Press
[ENTER]
again.
The
display
now
looks
