Read
this
chapter
if
vou
wish
to
connect
the
ep-97/77
to
an
external
MIDI
devices.
If
the
ep-97/77
is
connected
to
a
MIDI
sequencer,
such
as
one
from
the
MT
series,
a
performance
recorded
on
the
ep-97/77
can
be
transmitted
to
the
MIDI
sequeneer.
It
is
also
possible
to
record
the
per-
formance
directly
on
the
MIDI
sequencer.
The
record-
ed
performance
can
be
saved
on
the
MIDI
sequencer.
When
the
ep-97/77
is
connected
to
an
MT
series
sequencer,
the
rich
variety
of
sounds
built
into
the
MT
can
be
played
from
the
keyboard
of
the
ep-97/77.
About
MIDI
MIDI,
short
for
“Musical
Instrument
Digital
Inter-
face,”
was
developed
as
a
standard
for
the
exchange
of
performance
data
between
electronic
instruments
and
computers.
The
ep-97/77
is
equipped
with
MIDI
connectors
to
allow
such
exchange
of
performance
data
with
exter-
nal
equipment
and
devices.
Connecting
the
keyboard
to
other
devices
via
these
jacks
provides
you
with
an
even
greater
variety
of
ways
to
use
your
ep-97/77.
About
the
MIDI
connectors
MIDI
In
connector—Use
a
MIDI
cable
(sold
sepa-
rately)
to
connect
from
here
to
the
MIDI
Out
connec-
tor
on
the
external
MIDI
device.
MIDI
messages
sent
from
connected
external
equip-
ment
will
be
received
here.
As
a
result,
the
ep-97/77
will
produce
sound,
change
tones,
or
perform
other
operations.
MIDI
Out
connector—Use
a
MIDI
cable
(sold
sepa-
rately)
to
connect
from
here
to
the
MIDI
In
connector
on
the
external
MIDI
device.
Performance
data
detail-
ing
what
has
been
played
on
the
keyboard,
and
other
data,
such
as
that
generated
when
a
pedal
is
depressed,
is
sent
out
from
here
to
external
MIDI
devices.
Making
the
connections
Note:
To
prevent
malfunction
and/or
damage
to
speakers
or
other
devices,
always
turn
down
the
volume,
and
turn
off
the
power
on
all
devices
before
making
any
connections.
1.
Turn
the
volume
down
completely
on
all
equip-
ment.
2.
Turn
off
the
ep-97/77
and
any
other
devices
to
be
connected.
3.
Use
MIDI
cable
(sold
separately)
to
connect
the
external
MIDI
device
to
the
MIDI
connector
on
the
ep-97/77.
Take
a
look
at
the
connection
examples.
4,
If
necessary,
use
audio
cables
to
connect
the
other
devices
to
the
ep-97/77
(see
page
16).

Turn
on
the
power
to
all
equipment.
